Final Takeaway

    As we approach the end of the semester, I start reflecting on all of the new tools that I discovered through this class. I loved being able to explore something new in every module. I was pushed this semester to try new things rather than show tools that I already knew about. At first, I found this irritating, but ultimately I'm so thankful for the push because I wound up loving the new things and being glad that I could try things out. 

    My favorite tool that I discovered was the Bee Line Reader which made it easier to understand large academic writings. I also loved building the website. It was tedious and frustrating at times because I had to keep starting over, but I loved the final product. I'm really excited to implement some of these strategies and tools into my school library and make it a better place for my students. 

    I really enjoyed this course and found that the assignments that we completed were authentic and relevant to the current state of school libraries. I hope that moving forward my courses continue to be this enjoyable and rewarding.

Mrs. Readerpants Blog This week I read the Mrs. Readerpants Blog which can be found here . I found this blog by looking for library blogs specifically for high school librarians. Leigh Collazo has been both a head librarian and a secondary English teacher. After the pandemic, she left the profession to homeschool her children and run her blog full-time. She started the blog in 2011 as a way to review books, but she gradually switched to management tips for librarians and classroom teachers. Cumbee_Destiny_Storytelling Reflection 2

In my graduate-level storytelling course, we are required to tell stories. Throughout the semester the type of storytelling changes that way we get experience presenting our stories in different ways. Before this class, I had only ever told stories to students by simply reading them from a book and showing them the pictures. At this point in the semester, I have done traditional storytelling, but I have also done storytelling with props/manipulatives, interactive storytelling, and storytelling without a book. Each type of storytelling had its own challenges and triumphs, but the one that pushed me the most was interactive storytelling.
