HoloLens

The Hololens 2 is Microsoft's VR console. It is untethered and comes with pre-installed apps that make it an effective tool. The Hololens is intended to boost productivity across manufacturing, engineering & construction, healthcare, and education. According to Microsoft's website, using the HoloLens in manufacturing increases efficiency by 90% and has a 40% reduction in travel. In engineering & construction, the Hololens brings an estimated savings of $4,000,000 per year and a 14% decrease in construction costs. In healthcare, there is a 30% decrease in ward time and it could take as little as 20 minutes to train medical staff. Finally, when used in education, the HoloLens boasts 50% better student scores and an 83% decrease in training time.

There are several colleges and universities already using this technology to enhance student learning. Using VR students are able to see past right in front of them. Being able to see examples in real time could be a game-changer in students retaining information.

The downside of HoloLens is the price. The VR system is very expensive, but if used intentionally and effectively it could save a business a lot of money. The cost of Microsoft's basic HoloLens 2 is $3,500. Even though this VR technology could be extremely useful, this price point is simply unattainable for the vast majority of educational institutions.
